Julie Pek '78

Julie is a first-generation Hungarian, born and raised in Cleveland. Although she started her collegiate career at the University of Akron, Julie realized after one year that a big school was not for her. She transferred to Baldwin Wallace as a sophomore, following in her big sister’s footsteps. Julie valued the smaller classes, and the feeling that professors really took an interest in their students. She says that thanks to the guidance of the faculty, administration, and fellow students she graduated from BW “a self-confident person prepared to take on any number of opportunities.”

During her time at BW, women’s competitive sports were just taking shape, and Julie was a part of the first women’s track team. She remains an active tennis player and hiker today.

Following graduation, Julie moved to Washington DC and first worked for Veterans Affairs before moving to various other branches within the Federal government. She then met her husband and they have since relocated to St. Louis, Louisville and Phoenix, where they now reside.

In Louisville, Julie was the State Executive Director for the Kentucky chapter of the US Tennis Association. She then became the Executive Director of the Southwest region with their move to Arizona.

Her favorite role, however, was as a Marketing Representative for a telecomputing company that was on the cutting edge of what the internet is today. She trained computer store employees on how to search basic information and sought out vendors to provide their product online.

Now in Phoenix, Julie needed a more flexible schedule so she started selling residential real estate, and is in her 7th year as a realtor.

Julie joined Women for BW in 2020 and is excited to give back to the organization.

Thank you, Julie!
