Dear Alumni of the Class of 1970,

On behalf of BW’s Center for Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement, we hope you and your loved ones are well.

Throughout the past few months, our team has been working tirelessly to check in with our alumni and friends in response to COVID-19, which has changed how we travel, connect, and celebrate milestones. Although we have greatly missed welcoming alumni and friends to campus this semester, we have always prided ourselves on creating meaningful ways to connect with one another and with BW.

Since our last 50th reunion communication, BW welcomed students to campus for in-person studies this fall. To date, we are only a few weeks away from completing our semester together and are grateful that our students, faculty, and staff have diligently followed health and safety protocols. Up until Thanksgiving, most students will attend a mix of in-person and online classes before completing their courses and finals online. In close consultation with local health experts, adaptations have been made to extra-curricular experiences with campus safety foremost in mind. You can learn more about our BW Be Safe responsible return here.

Recently, we met with your classmates to discuss the Class of 1970 50th Reunion. More than fifteen Ambassadors reached a quick consensus to postpone the event until further notice. The group reflected on what makes a BW reunion so special, and unanimously decided to wait until it is safe to gather again on campus instead of planning an alternative virtual event. Though the evolving nature of the pandemic makes it difficult to confirm a new date at this time, I can ensure you that our team is committed to rescheduling as soon as we can safely do so.

Although we will have to wait to be together in-person, we are still celebrating you! So, let’s raise a toast to the year ahead and the many ways to stay connected as a Yellow Jacket for Life.

  • Send your good news our way! We want to celebrate your life updates and help you connect with your classmates. Send your updates through our Alumni Update Form to be featured in an upcoming Class Notes Quarterly, which is emailed to all alumni.

  • Celebrate your fellow Yellow Jackets! Carve out some time to watch our 2020 virtual Alumni Merit Awards and induction into BW’s Athletic Hall of Fame. Watch your email for links.

  • Support BW students! Cheer on BW’s nationally acclaimed music theatre program from the comfort of your home by streaming the virtual production of the powerful Broadway rock musical “Spring Awakening” November 19th - 22nd. Purchase tickets to receive unique access to the streamed performance here

  • Herald the season of gratitude with us! Tune in to the annual BW Conservatory Holiday Concert on December 6th at 3pm & 7pm for a musical offering full of heart and inspired by love, hope, and wishes for abundance and health into the new year. Tickets are complimentary but required to access the virtual performance. Claim your tickets here.

Our office looks forward to maintaining close ties with the 1970 Reunion Ambassador team and with you. We are grateful for the commitment of the Reunion Ambassadors to bring everyone together again to relive your days at BW, share stories, and reconnect with peers – a true “mega celebration” we excitedly anticipate along with you!

If you have questions or thoughts to share about your reunion, or BW in general, please feel free to reach out to me. You may also reconnect with your Reunion Ambassadors, search the online directory for all 1970 classmates, and explore the BW archives.

With YJ4L pride and well wishes into the holiday season,
