Family Inspiration Leads Student to Add Sensory Accessibility to BW Theatres
Written by Joyce DeGirolamo

Taylor Lang '24 is a recipient of the 2023 Women for BW Giving Circle award.

Thanks to Lang, BW theatres are becoming certified sensory-inclusive venues offering accommodations that can benefit individuals with autism, dementia, PTSD and other conditions. Sensory-inclusive accommodation is part of a growing trend that provides welcoming environments for people whose brains have trouble receiving and responding to information that comes in through the senses.

"Through my research, I found out about a national organization called KultureCity, which provides guidance and support in implementing sensory-inclusive accommodations for organizations. Through our partnership with KultureCity, our front-of-theatre house staff will receive training, and the University will receive signage and supplies that align with sensory accommodation. In addition, BW's Kleist Center is now certified as a sensory-inclusive venue," she noted.

Make a Paw-sitive Impact & Volunteer at Bark Walk!

The fourth annual BW Bark Walk is Saturday, July 20 from 8 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. and we are looking for volunteers to help invite our alumni, friends, and their furry little companions to campus. This is a fun, family and pet-friendly event with a walk around campus, a doggy diploma ceremony, and some paw-some treats.

Grab a friend and volunteer together! Volunteer responsibilities can include leading a walk, assisting with registration, greeting guests, or helping at the water stations.

Click the button below to complete the volunteer sign-up form (volunteers do not need to register for the event separately or pay the $10 registration fee – by signing up to volunteer, you are registered for the event!).

Sophomore Women's Empowerment & Mentorship Program

The BW Sophomore Women's Empowerment & Mentorship Program is seeking mentors! You'll be paired with a sophomore woman student. By serving as a mentor, you can help invest in the next generation of women leaders at BW, and empower women to succeed. This is a semester-long commitment in which mentors share insights on navigating college, and create lasting bonds with a mentee. Click the button below to complete the volunteer interest form!

Volunteer at Bold & Gold!

Let's come together for a Celebration of the BW Family during BW's 2024 Bold & Gold  Weekend on September 27-28, 2024! At this time, we are seeking volunteers for Saturday, September 28. Your support as a volunteer for this important weekend of festivities will enhance the day for all those attending!
