Vol. III, Issue 3: January 2020

President's Message

Welcome to a new year and new decade for the Brown & Gold Club!

As we look to move ahead to the new year, I would be remiss if I didn’t recognize the loss of someone near and dear to the BW community at the end of 2019, Harrison Dillard. Harrison was not only a gold medal-winning Olympian, but he also served as a sharpshooter for the famed Buffalo Soldiers during WWII. He was a lifelong Clevelander, and an avid supporter of BW athletics until his passing. His legacy will continue to live on here on campus with his bronze statue outside of Finnie Stadium and the indoor track named in his honor.

As the Brown & Gold Club kicks off the new year, we look forward to celebrating our 50th Annual Reverse Raffle on Saturday, April 4. Join the excitement of our annual signature fundraiser and/or purchase a raffle ticket for your chance to win the grand prize. This year’s event will take place on campus at the Ursprung Gymnasium. Don’t miss the chance to see current and former coaches, play 50/50 sideboards and enjoy the evening celebrating with friends, both new and old.

  • 6:00 p.m. – Social Hour (open bar)
  • 6:30 p.m. – Buffet Dinner
  • 7:00 p.m. – Reverse Raffle

All Yellow Jackets, family, and friends are welcome to attend or participate in the raffle. Be on the lookout for registration opening in early February.

In fall 2019, the fundraising efforts from those of you who have supported the student-athletes at BW came to fruition with the aesthetic enhancements to the Ursprung Gymnasium and Rec Center. Stop by the facility to see the updated graphic walls and modern look and feel of the main hallway.

Thanks to the efforts of Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach, Trey Keeley, and the Career Services staff, the Brown & Gold Club is excited to be a part of the Jacket Career Captains event in the fall. This event provides sophomore, junior and senior student-athletes an opportunity to network with Yellow Jacket alumni to learn how to leverage the experience and skills developed on the field/court in conversations. Take a look at a recap of the event!

As the Brown & Gold Club continues to look for ways to support our current Yellow Jackets, you can do the same by cheering on a winter team (composite schedule) or contributing to the Brown & Gold Club.
